Endowment Fund for Newington

Preparing our kids for the future is going to take all of us working together
Barack Obama
44th President of the United States

At last year’s Prize Giving (Speech Night), the Chairman of the College Council, Mr Tony McDonald (ON 1976) announced the launch of the Newington College Endowment Fund.

The Endowment Fund has been established so that, by 2040, we can continually provide 100 potentially outstanding young boys from families with proven socio-economic need the opportunity of a Newington education through a Bursary.

This is Newington’s social justice policy in action, by actively pursuing our value of diversity through focus on socio-economic inequality. Our boys come from many cultures, faiths and social demographics. However, as economic pressures on families increase, Newington is aware that without addressing this issue now, our socio-economic diversity will contract in the years ahead.

Bursaries are means tested scholarships, so the recipients will only be sons of families with proven socio-economic need – those most deserving of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

One young Old Boy who has benefitted from a Newington Bursary is 2005 Senior Prefect and Endowment Fund Ambassador Justin Bosilkovski. You can be inspired by Justin’s story and see the short video he has made for us by Clicking Here. This is part of our new Foundation Insite and everything you wanted to know about the Endowment program can be found here.

The College currently has a modest Bursary Fund and a number of individual Bursaries. These have been funded over many years by generous Old Boys, parents and other members of the Newington Community through tax deductible donations or as a gift from a Will through our Founders Society, the College’s Bequest program.

To fund 100 Bursaries, we need to raise $240 million by 2040. But those 100 boys will benefit only if we start now and to do that, we need your help.

Please click Here to make a donation. Every donation – large or small, regular or one off – is greatly appreciated and will see us closer to our goal of offering 100 deserving boys the opportunity to receive a Newington education.

Gifts to the College Endowment Fund are 100% tax deductible and every dollar is used for the benefit of our boys. With 30 June fast approaching, will you consider a gift today?
