Introducing the US East Coast Vice President of the ONU – Nicholas Roach (ON 2007) In his own words…

I currently live in Boston, MA and am on the precipice of completing my MBA at Northeastern University, D’Amore-McKim School of Business. The experience of both living and studying abroad has been deeply rewarding thus far, and to anyone, possibly newly graduated from Newington, I highly recommend it. It’s incredible how many doors a friendly Australian accent can open for you.

The role I will look to play for the ONU in the coming months and years, hopefully, is that of an informational checkpoint and optimistically, a guide of sorts for any other alumni looking to transition their skills and talents to the US. Without going into the details of it, the process of having one’s education equivalized for an American school, the various bureaucratic circles and the endless extra hoops a foreign person has to jump through to either study or work, without a corporate sponsorship, can be truly daunting and possibly insurmountable without the right planning. I hope that the process I underwent is not as hard as it has to be for anyone who comes next, and my goal would be to offer my experience as a tool for the next wave of ambitious individuals.

I will seek to make myself available to current students and alum who may be looking at international opportunities. I would suggest the College is the first port of call for information, but as I found, each individual has a very unique set of circumstances, challenges and advantages which will come into play through the process.
