First edition of eNews for Past Parents

Welcome to the first edition of Alumni eNews for our Parent Alumni.

Being a past parent myself (Michael ON 2010), when my son finished Year 12 and his wonderful journey as a Newington student ended, so also did my day to day involvement as a parent. As an Old Boy, I was kept in touch with what Old Boys were interested in at Newington but there was no news as a past parent. This frustrated me because as parents, we were an integral part of the day to day life of the College and suddenly, there was nothing.

Many of you shared rich and engaging experiences whilst your son was at Newington and we know from conversations we have had, that Newington still holds a special place for many of you. You are very much part of the fabric of our community and we at the College’s Office of Community and Development want you to know that. This Parent Alumni eNews is our way of welcoming you back, even though you never really went away.

Our Parent Alumni eNews will issue twice a year and will keep you up to date with what is happening at Newington. It is planned to issue around the same time of the biannual editions of NEWS Magazine issue in Autumn and Spring and will include a link to the online version. If you have news about you or what your son is doing in his adult life, please let us know for our next edition.

We don’t have current email addresses for all our past parents, so please feel free to pass this on. If you have received this from a friend, please let us know your email so we can stay in touch. Likewise, if you don’t wish to receive further news from us, just email back and let us know.

I hope you enjoy this first edition of Parent Alumni eNews and I hope that we can also look forward to you joining us on Back to Newington Day on 30 July.

Kind regards

Rod Bosman (ON 1978)
Director of Community and Development
