Cricket: A message from the NCCC

Reminder: Newington College Cricket Community AGM
Monday 18 June, 6.30pm in the Council Boardroom in the Founders Building.
All welcome.

Dear Newington Cricket families,

Hasn’t the year flown! As the cooler months set in and the oval and round ball codes take front of mind—cricket, I am sure, is the farthest thing from your mind.

However it will not be too far into next term that we will see the cricket bats being pulled out of hibernation and the pre season training will start.

At Newington College, cricket is a foundation sport. What a proud achievement, what a milestone and what a contribution to cricket in this country since 1863. As we enter our all important 150th season we are at an important stage of development within the cricket community.

This season is a critical one and we will see the departure from the NCCC committee of some extremely talented and committed parents, as their son’s educational and cricketing journey at Newington closes its chapter. As a community, we owe these people a great deal of thanks for their efforts and now is the time that we build on the foundation they have assisted in developing.

The positive thing about our Newington College Cricket Community is the depth and breath of skill sets that the parents bring. I encourage you to consider being part of the next cricket chapter.

We have some exciting things planned to support our cricket program including a relaunch of our membership, online cricket skills program and much more. Under the guidance of the Director of Cricket, Matthew Nicholson, it is a program that not only improves and develops your son’s cricketing prowess but also assists to develop them into fine young men.

I look forward to warmly welcoming you to our AGM which will be held on Monday 18 June 2012 in the Council Board room in the Founders Building behind reception at 6.30pm. We look forward to your contribution to Newington’s cricketing future.
