Founders Society Day
It was a beautiful, sunny day for the 3rd Annual Founders Society Day celebrated on Friday 18 May on the lawn outside of the Founders Building. Fifty-five special guests were in attendance, of which twenty-one members were new Founders Society inductees. This brings our total membership to sixty-three!
The day was particularly special because the new Founders Society Honour Board, displayed in the ONU Centre, was unveiled by Dr Rodney Thomas (ON ’60). The guests were also treated to a tour of the Archives Exhibition Room followed by a luncheon where the newest members in attendance received their honorary gold pin, certificate and a This is Your Newington Life biography. This year’s new members included a mix of Old Boys, wives of Old Boys, current parents and even future parents.
The Founders Society was launched on 18 May 2010 to honour its members who have decided to reach beyond their own lives by leaving a bequest to the College. Class of 1967 – 45 Year Reunion and Class of 1977 – 35 Year Reunion
The Classes of 1967 and 1977 held their 45 and 35 Year Reunions on Saturday, 19 May 2012. For the first time both year groups held a combined event in Prescott Hall. It was wonderful to see almost 60 Old Boys gathered together as Old Newingtonians—not just as a single year group. Despite the fact that 10 years separated their Alumni year it was interesting to hear how similar the stories and memories were—proving that it is the Black and White and the love of Newington that maintains their association!
