F1 Technology team Zipper Effect raise funds for National Finals
During the holidays Zipper Effect, Newington’s junior professional team of F1 technology students has been offering laser engraving on laptops to students over the summer break. F1 in Schools is the largest Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Competition and involves over nine million students from 17,000 schools in 31 nations.
The engraving service was well-received by the Newington community with Zipper Effect getting ready for an onslaught of new laptops to engrave as boys settle back into school.
Last year, Zipper Effect passed the regional and state final. This has secured them a place in the National Final held at the Avalon Air Show in late February.
Those wanting their devices engraved with their name and a special Sesquicentenary logo can visit the workshop between 8.00am to 8.30am every morning and during lunch. A cost of $5 is requested with all funds raised going towards accommodation and travel expenses as the team prepares to travel to Melbourne to compete on 25 February.
If there are parents or friends who would like their own devices engraved, please contact Mr Paul Honeywell or any member of Zipper Effect. We are also contactable via email at zippereffect@newington.nsw.edu.au
