An invitation to celebrate the vision
With the frantic busyness of “start of year” meetings and planning, together with the “brain dead” feeling one has when transitioning back into the work mode after a restful holiday, I thought that was a good idea to simply give the Sesquicentennial Chapel Service a big plug to all parents and friends of Newington community:
Date: Sunday 3 February (just a few days away)
Time: 9.30am
Venue: The Newington College Chapel (Stanmore Campus)
I am sure that you have seen the advertising in News Magazine but I just want to encourage you to come along with your families and enjoy the celebration of 150 years of the strong Christian heritage of our wonderful school. It was the vision of those early Methodist—now known as Uniting Church—visionaries that established the dream of a school that would be welcoming of all peoples and uphold godly values. Such a dream is very much a vibrant part of our present experience and one of the unique characteristics of Newington that sets us apart from other GPS schools in Sydney.
The Reverend Peter Morphew, our Preparatory School Chaplain, will be bringing a very interesting and challenging message. Peter is always entertaining and relevant and his words are well worth hearing. The College Choir will also be there in force together with many past staff, chaplains and old boys.
I look forward to seeing many of you here next Sunday.
Rev David Williams
Chaplain
