Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is the last Head of Stanmore newsletter for 2018. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 12 2018 HSC students who received their results this morning, and I look forward to seeing the boys at a celebratory morning tea at 10.30am tomorrow in the Old Chapel.
Our Year 12 2018 IB students still have several weeks to wait before their results are released on Thursday 3 January.
Several important dates have been locked in for the start of 2019:
- Meet the Mentor bookings open on Monday, 14 January;
- Year 7 2019 leave for camp on Monday, 21 January;
- Our boarders return on Monday, 28 January;
- Administration Day is on Tuesday, 29 January, and
- Classes resume on Wednesday, 30 January.

As you are aware, in Term 4 we introduced a mobile phone and electronic device trial. After analysing the initial feedback received from staff, students and parents the consensus is to continue the trial until the end of Term 2 2019 and extend it to include smart watches. This extension of the trial will enable the College to gather more data and make an informed decision regarding any policy. Please click here to familiarise yourselves with the updated policy.
I also include a link to a recent article by Mr Quinane that highlights the importance of understanding adolescent risk-taking behavior during the holiday period. Please click here for the link to this article.
In closing, it has been another great year at Newington College. From my family to yours, I wish you a merry Christmas, happy New Year and a relaxing January.
