Dear Parents and Guardians,
At our Easter service on Wednesday, Pastor La’Brooy spoke to the boys about symbols, especially the cross. “The cross shows us that God walks with us, cares for us and loves us no matter what,” he told the boys. “This symbol of pain and suffering is transformed into a radical symbol of God’s love and acceptance of all people; with no regard for a person’s background, experience, sexuality, culture, gender … nothing. The cross marks the point where God says, ‘all are welcomed, and all are loved’.”
The service was also an opportunity for our boys to farewell Mr Matt Holdgate and Mr Jock Canning. Max Hochuli (12/JN) paid tribute to Mr Holdgate and Isaac Carriline (12/MO) to Mr Canning. The Year 12 boys screened a wonderful video tribute to Mr Canning which had us alternating between laughter and tears. Please ask your boys to tell you about it.
After assembly, our Year 12 boys and staff left for their annual retreat. This is a wonderful program for the boys, their Heads of House and Mentors.
Friday marks the end of Term 1 2019. Year 11 boys will be dismissed from lunch (12.50 pm), and Years 7-10 at 3.20pm. Please note there is no Year 7 Sport.
I hope all the boys going on tour during the break have a great experience and hold true to the College’s values while away. To families going on holiday, I wish you safe travels, and to those staying at home, enjoy the break in routine.
Term 2 commences on Monday 29 April, which is Week B. Our Anzac Parade will be held on Tuesday, 30 April at 8.30am. Parents are very welcome to join us for this important ceremony.
Have a great break; I look forward to seeing you all next term.
