Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Term 2 – it is great having the boys back on campus.
On ANZAC Day students from Newington’s Cadet Corp participated in several ceremonies around Sydney to help commemorate ANZAC Day. I thank the many staff and boys who attended these services. On the same day, Angus Waldon (12/MA) was awarded the Queen’s Scout Award. This is the highest youth award achievable in the Scouting movement in the Commonwealth realms. Angus was presented his Queen’s Scout Award by the Governor and Chief Scout of New South Wales, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) at Government House Sydney. Congratulations Angus on receiving this prestigious award.
Our own ANZAC Day Parade was held on Tuesday. I am very proud of our boys for the respect they showed and the effort they put into ensuring our service honoured those who have gone before. To the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Parade such a magnificent occasion – I thank you.
This weekend our Boarders will participate in the Sutherland Shire Relay for Life, spending 24 hours at Don Lucas Reserve, Wanda Beach, Cronulla. The boys will be raising much needed funds for the Cancer Council. If you would like to support our boys and donate, please click here.
Next week we celebrate the 9th Biennial LitFest. This year we are going above and beyond our previous Festival offerings with a ‘Vivid’ inspired light exhibition and an invitation to our parents and community to listen to Guest Speaker, Sean Choolburra, performer and comedian.
The Tupou College Container is now on site and we are ready to accept your donations. Please click here to see what is most needed by our brothers in Tonga.
The first full round of winter sport starts this Saturday. Good luck to all our Newington boys as they take to track and field, whilst keeping in mind the guidelines around Positive Sport.
Enjoy the weekend.
