Our summer sports captains were announced at assembly this week. Congratulations to our Captain of Boats Shannon Lowe-Griffiths, Water Polo Captain Toby Goldschmidt and Cricket Captain Ned Barnet-Hepples (pictured above L-R). I wish them and their respective teams and crews a successful summer season. 

Our new caterers have made a great start at Newington. From all reports and my own observations the offer at the cafeteria is tastier and healthier than before, which is creating demand and, unfortunately, long queues. To help alleviate this, we would like you to encourage boys to utilise their student ID card to pay for purchases at the cafeteria. The ‘tap and go’ system using ID cards takes about 15 seconds, compared to one minute when boys use cash. Please explore this option as it will allow your boys to get out of the cafeteria queue and onto the ovals much faster.

The 2019 HSC exams are well underway and on Wednesday our Year 12 IB boys completed their last formal classes in preparation for the start of their exams on 4 November. I wish all the boys the best of luck during the exam period.
