Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday 17 March, for only the second time in 100 years, the Head of the River was held on a weekday. The program was modified so that only our 1st and 2nd VIII and 1st to 4th IVs took part. We are grateful our senior rowers were able to finish their school rowing careers by competing one last time.
Congratulations to our 2nd VIII who placed third in their race. The crew, coached by Ralph Hobbs and Kurtis Thomas, were Sam Bristow, Hugo Hobbs, Karl Kovarik, Zack McGeechan, Jonty Carr, Elliot O’Connor, Simon Latham, Nick Yule and Cox Ben Dewhurst (pictured above).
Our Junior rowers were no doubt disappointed they could not compete, but we look forward to seeing them at the Head of the River this time next year.
It is wonderful to have the boys back today. As I walk around the campus, I notice the boys are laughing and smiling, and their willingness to sit down and get started on the learning, sometimes via trial Zoom classes, has been impressive. It’s very much appreciated by us.
Given the situation we all currently face, could I reiterate the importance of keeping your son at home if he is unwell. We have unfortunately had to send home a number of students who have presented at the Health Clinic and will continue to be vigilant on this front.
I would like to thank our community for their support and for staying alert to the ever-changing paradigm. We will continue to communicate any changes promptly.
