Dear Parents and guardians,
These are certainly unusual times. I trust you are all well and becoming familiar and comfortable with our new way of educating your sons. The transition has certainly been rapid, so thank you for your patience and ongoing assistance. My particular thanks to our boys and staff for adapting so well to the new way of doing things.
As you know, Mr Trent Driver and I have held Zoom information sessions with parents and guardians of individual year groups over the last two evenings. We went through similar information with the boys on Tuesday.
The Zoom Year 7-10 session is available on Spaces by clicking here.
There are a couple of points I would like to reinforce:
- Please ensure the boys to not have their phones anywhere near their workspace during the day. They are deeply distracting. Please ask your boys to put their phones away as they would during any normal school day.
- Please ask your boys to bring their best behaviour to class. If they wouldn’t do it on campus in classrooms, they should not do it at home. We need to replicate school policies in the home environment as much as we reasonably can.
I would like to close with a quote from Bill Gates sent to me by a parent:
‘COVID-19 is reminding us that we are all equal, regardless of our culture, religion, occupation, financial situation or how famous we are. This disease treats us all equally, perhaps we should to.’
Look after each other, Newington, and take care.
