Dear parents and guardians,
It is wonderful to have everyone back on campus this week and refreshing to see the boys interacting again with their teachers and friends. The return to Athletics training and reopening the pool and tennis courts has been another positive step forward.
We had scheduled a student-free staff professional development day on Friday 5 June. However, given we will have only had all the school back for two weeks, we will now have normal lessons that day until lunch time. All year groups will run a normal timetable for periods 3 and 4 with Year 7-9 finishing at 12.40 pm and Years 10-12 finishing at 12.50 pm. Boys wishing to take the school bus home are welcome to stay on Campus until 3.20 pm. Staff will remain at the school for professional development and planning sessions in the afternoon. The Outdoor Education Program will not run on 5 June.
In a Newington first we have moved our Autumn 2020 News magazine online only. The theme of this News magazine is “flexibility” which is apt given the current climate. It is a great read and you can find it here.
Our Sport department has been doing some great work with the boys during these interesting times. On Saturday there will be Athletics training for all disciplines, followed by a barbecue breakfast. For more details please click here.
I would like to thank the boys for the way they have handled themselves over the past 8-10 weeks. They have stepped up and exceeded our expectations in relation to home schooling, public transport, hygiene, temperature checking and the cashless cafeteria. Energy levels are high – and the campus again feels alive.
Enjoy your weekend.
