Dear parents and guardians,
Our Athletics Colours and Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday. Tolu Koula (12/FL), our Athletics Captain, presented Headmaster with The J M McCann Trophy for our Intermediate division win at the AAGPS Athletics Carnival on Sunday 2 August 2020.

A further 13 boys were also awarded Athletics Colours.
Willy Penitani (12/FL), our Fletcher Chapel Prefect, delivered the blessing. Willy thanked the Lord for the achievements of these young men with great hearts and strong wings. He praised them for the talent that the Lord has given them and sought guidance, comfort and support in the preparations for the Year 11 and 12 trial exams. Willy also asked that, in these times of uncertainty, we pray for safety and contentment and that we find normality through each other. Beautifully said, Willy.
Earlier this week Headmaster wrote to all parents and boys to advise that the GPS winter sport competition has been suspended. We will continue with internal training and internal Saturday fixtures.
We continue to act on government advice and react to any changes as soon as is practicable.
- Over today and tomorrow we will be handing out masks to all boys. From now we require students to wear them when travelling on public transport.
- We are also working to keep our Year 12 boys isolated (as much as we reasonably can) through their trial exams and ask that they work in the Year 12 Study Centre only.
- Year 11 boys will be asked to work in the upstairs Library area if they come into school.
- Year 7–10 boys will work in the downstairs Library area.
- All Year 7–11 boys will need to sign in at the Library.
- Years 7, 11 and 12 may use their House Locker area.
- Years 8–10 will need to carry their bags with them to class.
- On days when boys have practical PE or Sport, they can wear their College PE Uniform (Years 8-10 only)
- During the Year 11 and 12 trial exams (21 August – 4 September) Year 9 and 10 are to enter the Cafeteria from the Johnson Oval side and Year 7 and 8 from the opposite side.
- If your son arrives late to the College, he must sign in at the Student Services office and have his temperature taken.
- Please continue to keep your boys at home if they are displaying any flu-like symptoms.
- Any student who is home or sent home feeling unwell with flu-like symptoms, however mild, must not return to school until a negative COVID result is received.
- The negative result is to be emailed to mbates@newington.nsw.edu.au or forwarded as text (not as attachment) to 0427 016 262.
- They must also be symptom-free before returning to campus.
Please remind boys to wash hands regularly, avoid sharing drinks or food, and cough or sneeze into their elbows.
Thank you for helping us to keep the College COVID-safe.
