Dear parents and guardians,
There has been a lot of friendly rivalry in sport match-ups between Year 12 boys and staff throughout the term. The fun kicked off with volleyball (won by Year 12) before the staff came back with a convincing win in touch footy. The decider was a ping pong match between our Headmaster Mr Parker and the Captain of the 1st XVI Abraham Hassan (12/LE), played at this week’s assembly. Abraham won a competitive game, giving the boys victory in the series. Headmaster and Abraham featured in a great video played before the match. Ask your son about it – it certainly got a lot of laughs.
Ping pong was just part of a slightly more light-hearted post-trials week. On Tuesday, Year 12 boys brought in their dogs for ‘Canines of the Campus’. We had oodles of oodles, labradors, a cattle dog, kelpie, cocker spaniel, weimaraner, a sheep dog, a staffy, a dachshund, a pugglier, a bichon and a set of twin mini schnauzers! They were very well behaved and provided us all with plenty of smiles and conversation.
I would also like to congratulate the following boys who were awarded House Honour Colours at assembly: Edward Dam (12/JN), Liam Giang (12/JN), Simon Latham (12/KL), Max Langford (12/LE), Thomas McCoubrie (12/ME), Jack Scott (12/ME), Tom Sherratt (12/ME), Nicolas Yule (12/ME), Charlie Nicholas (12/MO) and Samson Hulks (12/PR). This is a prestigious award and I am glad the boys were able to cross the stage to be presented with their Colours and applauded by their friends.
A couple of housekeeping points. Tomorrow (Friday) Mentor Group photos will be taken. Boys in Years 8–11 should wear full blazer uniform. Years 7–11 will be dismissed from school at 12.50pm to allow our Year 12 boys to have the school and staff for their on-campus retreat. If boys are travelling on public transport, please remind them to wear a mask.
Thank you for respecting the rules for spectators on the grounds at sporting fixtures. Can I ask that you also practise social distancing on Stanmore Road and the overpass as we have had several complaints from our neighbours. Thank you for your understanding.
Enjoy the last two weeks of term.
