Dear parents and guardians,
Last weekend, selected rowers took part in the National Rowing Championships in Tasmania. The boys were wonderful representatives of the College and signed off the 2020/21 rowing season in fine style.
Hamish Danks and Hugo Hobbs placed fourth in the Under 19 Double A Final. Jack Callanan, Max Elliott, Thomas Maclean, Callum Latham and Dominic Novati placed third, receiving a bronze medal in the Championship Schoolboy Quad A Final. Hugh Harvey, Leo Burkitt-Doyle, Harvey Jones, Hamish Danks, Alex Page, Hugo Hobbs, Sam Bristow, Charlie Carr and Ben Dewhurst placed fourth in the Championship Schoolboy VIII A Final and Henry Taylor placed third in the Championship Schoolboy Single Scull B Final. I thank Karl Schmidt for his leadership of the touring party.
This afternoon our Year 12 boys will return from their three-day retreat. I was fortunate to visit the boys at Chatswood yesterday morning. They were all having a fantastic time and the program of activities was great. I look forward to seeing them on the driveway this afternoon when they return.
We held our Easter Service this morning for staff and boys. It is a lovely way to reflect and remember the true meaning of Easter – not just as a long weekend.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy break. Many of you will be travelling, I’m sure – what a difference a year makes. I urge families to choose to take some time away from devices this Easter and school holidays to enjoy the outdoors and each other’s company.
Take advantage of the change of pace over the next fortnight and we will see all the boys back here to start Term 2 on Monday 19 April cleanly shaven, with suitable haircuts, polished shoes and wearing their full blazer uniform.
