Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week we had the pleasure of welcoming the Maasai Cricket Warriors from Kenya to the Stanmore campus. The Maasai are one of the few remaining traditional nomadic tribes still surviving in Africa. Their visit not only allowed them to play a game of cricket, visit our classrooms and get a small taste of our school culture, but allowed them the opportunity to draw attention to the societal and cultural issues affecting their tribe. We wish them all the best and look forward to welcoming them again in the future.
At assembly this week our Senior Prefect, Jack Jacobs, gave an inspiring speech to the boys drawing on our school motto of ‘Value You, Support Him, Stand with Her’. He encouraged the boys to ‘give things a go’ in order to conquer their fears and to not judge themselves by the standards of others. He reminded the boys that their value is defined by the way they treat others not by how many awards or achievements they have received. It was a superb address receiving praise from both the students and staff. Jack’s full speech is available below.
