Dear Parents and Guardians,
Congratulations to all our swimmers who competed last Friday evening in the GPS Swimming Finals. The final event of the night, a 6x50m freestyle relay which was anchored by our Captain of Swimming Calum Lowe-Griffiths, was a fitting way to finish the night. Calum started a body length behind and swam over the top of the Riverview swimmer to the delight of the many boys and parents on hand. From the pool Calum returned to his books and has joined all of the Year 12’s in preparing for the half yearly examinations that are currently being held in Centenary Hall. Please spare a thought for all our Year 12’s who will continue to study over the weekend whilst others enjoy a well-earned rest. To cap off what has been a wonderful summer season across many year levels and divisions, our swimming boys won the GPS Junior and Senior divisions and came second in the Intermediates.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Support Groups for their tireless efforts over the summer season. Without the many volunteers who so willingly give up their time we would not be able to provide the boys with such rewarding experiences and wonderful resources across all sports. I would also like to thank the Directors of Sport – Mr Rex Nottage (Basketball), Mr Ross Turner (Cricket), Mr Nick Wainman and Mr Paul Robertson (Rowing), Mr Ryan Moar (Swimming), Mr Jeff Canning (Table Tennis) and Mr Greg Royle (Tennis) and the many coaches who have supported and encouraged the boys throughout the season.
It has certainly been a busy term and the boys must be commended for their achievements across both the academic and co-curricular programs.
I wish all families a safe and enjoyable Easter break.
