Dear Parents and Guardians,

Yesterday at assembly we honoured Mr Phil Davis OAM who has served Newington for 65 years. Phil commenced at the College in 1951 as a Maths Teacher, retiring in 2000. Since his retirement Phil continues to serve the College as a volunteer in Archives. We acknowledged Phil for his tremendous service to Newington and thanked him for his generosity in providing in his will for ‘The Phillip Davis OAM Mathematics Bursary’, fundraising for which was launched in 2014. When fully funded the Bursary will enable a boy of promise in the field of Mathematics to have the opportunity of a Newington education. 

I invite all parents to an important P&F event next week. On Tuesday evening Dr Paula Robinson, the Managing Director of the Positive Psychology Institute and the Mental Fitness Institute, will run a one hour masterclass to provide useful tools and techniques to assist parents, and the whole family, build resilience for life. 

Elliot Ulm, Captain of Le Couteur House, gave a wonderful speech at Chapel last night which posed the question to the boys ‘Are you happy?’ I urge all boys to read Elliot’s speech attached below as it will challenge on a few levels.
