Dear Parents and Guardians,
We thank the community for their support through what has been a very difficult week for the College. A communication will be sent out shortly once details of the Memorial Service for Louis Doulougeris are finalised.
Last week the Centre for Ethics hosted a Religion and Ethics panel discussion chaired by Mr John Cleary. The event was recorded and is available on ABC Radio. I have provided the link below. I would like to thank Dr Jeremy Hall who organised this informative and very well attended event.
This week we celebrated NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) week at assembly with our guest speakers Mr Glen Ella, former Australian Rugby player and Mr Shayne Williams, the Language and Culture Consultant for the AECG. They spoke about the importance of NAIDOC week for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as the importance of its wider recognition and understanding in society. We are all familiar with the many wonderful achievements of our indigenous brothers and sisters, but equally, assemblies like this also help our boys understand the challenges our society still faces and what they can do to help.
This weekend we celebrate Back to Newington Day. Please come along and support our Football, Rugby and Volleyball boys as they compete in a number of events across the day. There will also be a bus service in operation from Newington College to the Tempe fields. The P&F have organised another fabulous day so please enjoy the Marketplace in Centenary Hall and the many activities around the campus.
