Dear Parents and Guardians,
There was much to celebrate at yesterday’s assembly with our theme being around what makes a good leader, and what are the qualities we look for in leadership. I congratulate the following boys who were selected as our Summer Sports Captains: Basketball – Jaidyn Goodwin (12/JN), Cricket – Lawrence Neil-Smith (12/JN), Tennis – Mark Papadopoulos (12/LE) and Waterpolo – Harry Gilkes (12/KL). I would also like to congratulate our Captain of Drama – Daniel Steel (12/LE) and Vice-Captain of Drama – Fergus Finlayson (12/JN) along with James Haldane (12/JN) who has been selected as the 1st XVI Captain for 2017.
We also acknowledged the following boys who represented the College in the NSW All School Athletics with some outstanding results: James Roach (10/MA), James Karabesinis (10/KL), Angus Beer (9/ME), Jake Goodhand (7WVA), Joshua Watson (7MSC) and Renato Pane (7DVA). Whilst there were several other boys that also competed and performed well, the boys listed above each gained places in their events, which is very difficult to do at this level.
Our new Senior Prefect, Mitchell Long, introduced the Year 12, 2017 slogan ‘My Strength is Your Support’. I urge all parents to read Mitchell’s speech, attached below, which explains the Year 12 vision for next year. I look forward to the leadership our new Year 12 cohort will bring to the school community.
Finally I wish the boys all the best for their exams which commence next week, and encourage them to put in those few extra hours which will make all the difference to their results.
