Dear Parents and Guardians,
At assembly this week we celebrated NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Our guest speaker Nathan Moran, CEO of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council, spoke about the history of the Gadigal and Wangal people, and took part in a Q&A session with Matthias Laubi (12/MO).
We congratulated our Firsts Water Polo Team, Ned Churchyard (12/ME), Harry Dickens (12/LE), Lachlan Dowding (12/ME), Mark Elwaw (10/JN), Harry Gilkes (captain)(12/KL), Henry Gowers (12/ME), Max Hannah (12/ME), Tom Laird (12/FL), Nico Maclean (11/KL), Aiden Schmit (11/MA), Adam Sharman (12/LE), Matt Sharp (11/MA) who were presented with their AAGPS/CAS Water Polo Champions badges.
We look forward to your company tonight at Founders Concert 2017 – ‘The Traveller’. With over 300 boys involved the evening promises to be memorable. The concert will be held in Centenary Hall and starts at 6.30 pm.
Back to Newington Day is this Saturday. It is our annual on-campus celebration and you’re invited! Come in for fresh produce, gorgeous flowers, delicious fruit and veggie boxes, hot soup, hot corn, the all-day breakfast, ‘Big BBQ’, dessert crêpes, homemade cakes, sweets and lemonade, gelato and much more. Back to Newington Day is compulsory for all boys, and I look forward to welcoming you Back to Newington.
