Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Wednesday we held the Winter Sports Awards, Colours and Letters Assembly. There were so many wonderful achievements: our 1st XI Football are AAGPS Joint Premiers, our 1sts Rifle Shooting are AAGPS Premiers and AAGPS Champions, our 2nds Rifle Shooting are AAGPS Premiers and our 2nds Volleyball are AAGPS Undefeated Premiers. We also recognised the 47 boys who are AAGPS State/National Sporting Representatives, and announced Petro Kaloterakis (12/FL) as our 2017 Athletics Captain. We were entertained with some wonderful speeches, and our guest speaker Mr Allan Alaalatoa (ON 2011), did a fabulous job of engaging the boys with his speech about the “why” that motivates him to do what he does. In closing Allan said “I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to go to Newington. It helped me to discover the ‘why’, and it showed me ‘how’ I was going to achieve my goals in life”. Great advice to all our boys but in particular our Year 12 boys as they start their trial HSC and IB exams this Friday.
