Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Thursday we welcomed the students who will be starting at Stanmore Campus in Year 7, 2018. They completed a three-hour general ability test that we will use along with reports and NAPLAN test results to place these students in classes. The boys were visibly nervous, but what I hoped to impress upon them was that this test, along with the many others they will sit, does not dictate their future. It is just a one-time measure and as we know, boys grow and mature at different rates.
There are so many examples of boys now in Years 11 and 12 who have chosen their courses to no-longer include all the mandated subjects. As a consequence, they are achieving at levels well beyond those suggested when they were in Year 6. Senior school also provides many boys with the opportunity to expand social circles and perhaps find the long standing friendship they have not yet made during the primary years.
In the upcoming weeks, there will be many events and milestones at the College as we prepare to farewell our Year 12 Class of 2017, and welcome our new school leaders.
