Dear Parents and Guardians,

This week at assembly we congratulated our Newington Challenge leaders for 2015: Scott Packett (Captain), Kenn Savvas and Finn O’Reilly (Vice-Captains).  We wish them well in their leadership over the next 12 months. We also congratulated our Intermediate ‘A’ Chess Team made up of Eamon Barrett, Cedric Koh, Nicholas Sharp and William Tao who won the NSW Junior Chess League Final.  This is Newington College’s best result in Chess and we are incredibly proud of the boys.  

The Headmaster also made a stirring address on diversity where he encouraged the boys of the school to keep an open mind when reading the press and watching the news.  There has been some sensationalist press that incorrectly groups the wider Islamic community with radicalised individuals.  Given that Newington College celebrates a huge diversity of faiths and cultures this warning resonated superbly with the boys.
