Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday we held our House Choir Competition which provided great entertainment. Each House chose a song aligned with their designated charity and, despite only a limited number of rehearsals, all Houses gave a good account of themselves. Sadly there can be only one winner, and we congratulate Le Couteur House on their success for 2016.
We were privileged to welcome back Mr Trent Zimmerman MP (ON 1986) as our guest at assembly yesterday. Jeremi Campese (Deputy Senior Prefect) and Alex Goth (Captain of Debating) chaired a Q&A session with Mr Zimmerman where he offered his own unique perspective on living life according to his own beliefs and values, and how he has achieved success in politics through a sense of self worth and a strong support base. After assembly Mr Zimmerman and his advisor, Hugh Eriksson, joined some of his former teachers and several Year 12 boys at lunch. I would like to thank Alex Goth (12/MA), Michael Li (12/MA) and Spencer Cornish (12/ME) for organising Mr Zimmerman’s visit which was a great success.
Congratulations must also go to our First XI Soccer team coached by Mr Justin Verco and Captained by Samuel Mehmet (12/MA), who have had great success this season. Last night they played in the New South Wales Combined Independent Schools Grand Final but sadly went down 4-3 to a golden goal in extra time. Finally one of the highlights of the year, Rockfest, takes place this Saturday afternoon and evening. We were given a taste of what is in store when one of the Year 7 bands performed a lively and well received version of ‘Tainted Love’ at assembly. I urge all parents and boys to support our performers for what will be a magnificent night of entertainment.
