Dear Parents and Guardians,
At assembly yesterday visiting speaker Sam Webb, who is the founder of ‘Livin’, spoke to the boys about positive mental health. This tied in with our 2017 motto of ‘My strength is your support’ and the speech given by our Senior Prefect, Mitch Long, where he spoke of the important role our First XVI plays in the life of the College. Mitch’s message and that of Sam Webb, explored the role we each play in our community and in the lives of those we share this community with. Sam spoke about the need to speak up and break any stigma that may still remain in relation to mental health. I encourage all our boys to openly discuss mental health issues and be ready to offer support to those who are going through challenging times.
We also announced our 2017 Music Leaders and I congratulate Fin Casey (12/KL) – Captain of Music, Miles Bullock (12/JN) and Aidan O’Donnell (12/FL) – Vice-Captains of Music, Evan Favos (12/ME) – Leader of Symphonic Winds, James Rosse (12/PR) – Leader of Orchestra, Daniel Pascale (12/FL) – Head of Contemporary Music and Alexander Lorquet (12/MO) – Head Chorister. We also had an opportunity to present House Honour Colours to 13 boys. Congratulations to those boys for their achievements and the many hours they have committed to volunteering in a range of charities.
