Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last week was a particularly busy one with a number of key events. The Newington College 16th Annual Film Festival ‘Cinearts’ was a great success and I congratulate all boys who participated by entering the event. The standard of films exhibited was very high, and whilst the parent actors are not immediately in line for an Oscar nomination, it was wonderful to see many get involved with their sons’ work. Congratulations also to the boys who took part in the drama production ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ which was a highly entertaining evening for all. While skillfully acted, the boys performing were also clearly having a fantastic time, which further drew in the audience.
I also had the privilege of attending the launch of the 2016 New Enigma which showcased a wonderful array of talent right across the school. I congratulate all students who contributed to this edition, but especially thank the Editors – Jack Alscher (10/FL), Arthur Kuan (12/MA), Mitchell Long (12/MA), Nicholas Peppercorn (12/PR) and Max Quinn (12/KL) for the wonderful work they did on producing the magazine.
At yesterday’s assembly we farewelled a number of staff who are leaving at the end of the year: Mr Dale Burrow, Ms Maz Bustamante, Mr Matt Chadwick, Ms Hayley Cush, Mr Conrad Del Villar, Mr Tyrone Giese, Mr James Norman, Ms Rachel O’Brien, Mr Clive Parkin, Dr Cassandra Pride, Ms Maya Saker, Dr Yvonne Smith, Mr Tim Wyatt, Ms Jane Wynn-Jones and Mr David King (returning to Wyvern). We wish them all the best for their future endeavours.
Finally I would like to wish all families a safe and restful Christmas holiday break.
