Dear Parents and Guardians,
At this week’s Summer Sports Assembly we honoured our Premiership winning teams: Basketball-1sts, Swimming-Senior and Relay and Water Polo-1sts and 2nds. The Captains proudly presented their trophies to the Headmaster, which was followed by a speech from our special guest Mr Luke Devlin (ON 2009). The students awarded Letters, Colours and Awards were also individually acknowledged. I congratulate all boys who have represented the Black and White army this past season.
Luke spoke to the boys about his experience with College Basketball when he was awarded a scholarship at Albany University in New York State, and the challenges and triumphs associated with this special time in his life. His message centred on how he leveraged the physical talents he was blessed with to gain a first class education, which ultimately opened up doors professionally post school.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Support Groups for their tireless efforts over the summer season. Without the many volunteers who so willingly give up their time we would not be able to provide the boys with such rewarding experiences and wonderful resources across all sports. I would also like to thank the Directors of Sport – Mr Rex Nottage (Basketball), Mr Ross Turner (Cricket), Mr Richard Roach (Rowing), Mr Ryan Moar (Swimming) and Mr Greg Royle (Tennis) and the many coaches who have supported and encouraged the boys throughout the season.
It has certainly been a busy term and the boys must be commended for their achievements across both academic and co-curricular programs.
I wish all families a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
