Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Tuesday students from Newington’s Cadet Corp participated in a number of ceremonies around Sydney to help commemorate ANZAC Day. I thank the many staff and boys involved, as well as for the arrangements that have been made for our own ANZAC Day service to be conducted tomorrow commencing at 8:45am. Tomorrow we will have many special guests in attendance, including the descendants of Newington Old Boy,  Gunner Jack Johnson who died on the Western Front in 1917. Mr Johnson’s family donated the money for the initial construction of Johnson Oval and tomorrow 100 years after his death we will be rededicating the oval as a war memorial.  

Last year I contacted all parents to ensure you were aware of my availability to meet should there ever be a need, and in our efforts to maintain clear and open lines of communication, that offer of a meeting continues to be available.
