Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week our Year 12 2017 boys started their HSC exams, whilst our Year 12 IB boys are still studying and awaiting the start of their exams on Monday, 30 October.
At assembly Nico Maclean (11/KL) shared his Tonga Tour experience with the College. Nico said, “This tour is essential for all Newington boys to experience, and truly understand how fortunate we are in every aspect of life.” On the back of the Tonga Tour presentation, Dale Schlaphoff (11/FL) launched the “11th Tupou College Container Appeal” where he asked the boys to bring in their annual donations for our brother school, Tupou College, Tonga. Dale urged boys to “bring in your small stuff,” because the donations need to fit inside stacked chairs. He wants us to fill all those small spaces as they don’t need more fresh air in Tonga! Congratulations to our up and coming Scientists. Forty-three boys in Years 7–10 competed in the ICAS, Big Science and RACI science competitions. A number of boys were awarded a High Distinction in one or two of the competitions with Harry Boyd (9/MO) and Angus Waldon (10/MA) achieving High Distinctions in all three competitions.
This week our 2018 Senior Leaders, Boarding Prefects and House Captains were sworn in. We have a strong Year 12 leadership team and cohort and feel confident that the College is in very good hands.
