Dear Parents and Guardians,
Newington College has the longest, continuously running Cadet Unit in Australia and last Friday they again watched over what was a moving Remembrance Day Ceremony. Through the training and guidance provided by Major Rod Wood and Lieutenant Rob Tredinnick, the Catafalque Party carried out their duties ensuring the dignity and respect was appropriately afforded to this time-honoured tradition. Lieutenant Josh Mann played The Last Post on the Anzac bugle, which was first played at Newington by Dominic Longhurst (ON 2014) at the 2013 Anzac Day Parade. At the time it was owned by Mr Brian Bown (ON 1948), a collector of militaria who had found it in a military memorabilia shop some years before. He recognised that it had some Newington connections after he acquired it, and presented it to the College at the 2014 Anzac Parade.
2017 assessments and exams for all boys will be completed on Friday. A list of prize winners will be posted on Wednesday, 29 November. These winners will be recognised at the Annual Prize Giving on Monday, 4 December at the Sydney Town Hall. Click here for more information.
With just three weeks of Term remaining, it is important that boys remain punctual and polite, focused and well-groomed to ensure they finish on a positive note.
Enjoy your weekend.
