From the Head of Stanmore
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is wonderful to still be recognising boys’ achievements at this time of the year. I would like to congratulate our 2018 Chess Captain William Mai (11/KL) and Vice-Captain Kenny Chen (11/FL).
Adrian Lo (9/LE) has been awarded a High Distinction in the Physics Olympiad and placed in the top 10% of candidates. This competition included 1700 students from across the country, and Adrian was our only participant. Adrian has already achieved High Distinctions in the ICAS Science Competition and the Australian National Chemistry Quiz this year.
At Assembly on Wednesday, Deklan Rollason (11/MO) and Lachlan Watson (11/FL) shared their USA Economics and Business Tour experience with the school. Lachlan says the highlight of the tour was visiting the US Department of Commerce, where the group was told about how the US government gathers information regarding demographics and socioeconomic statuses of citizens similar to the Australian Census.
Once again this year we have the Exodus Foundation Christmas Tree set up in Founders Reception. The Exodus Foundation meets the needs of Sydney’s poor and homeless by connecting each guest with the professional services they need to break their cycle of poverty. The Exodus Foundation provides free meals to the needy every day of the year, and counselling and outreach services to guide their futures. We would like to invite parents, guardians, boys and staff to donate quality non-perishable food and gifts for people of all ages so the wonderful people at Exodus can share some Christmas joy with those less fortunate than us. Click here for more information.
