Dear Parents and Guardians,
I trust you enjoyed the Easter break. It’s great to see the boys return refreshed for the last two weeks of term. The college is still in full swing, with many activities planned for coming weeks.
Mrs Mary Nosworthy, who is currently on secondment to Tupou College in Tonga, was back on campus this week. She was in Tonga when Cyclone Gita hit in February and, along with fellow Newington teacher Ms Klarissa Stellmacher, has been instrumental in the clean-up. Tupou College now has power and water, but needs assistance to establish crops. Each year we plan a Rugby and Service Learning experience to Tupou and this year the boys will have the opportunity to make a real contribution by establishing produce gardens that in time will enable Tupou College to become self-sufficient and improve the nutrition of everyone at the College. Last year I joined the boys on the tour and it was a unique experience. I urge you to explore this opportunity for your boys. Please click here for more information on the tour.
Finally, a reminder to all parents and guardians to take care when dropping off or picking up boys at the College. We have a duty of care to our boys, staff, neighbours and community to ensure their safety through sensible and safe driving practices.
Enjoy the last week of term.
