Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to introduce Mr Andy Quinane, our new Deputy Head of Stanmore (Students). Mr Quinane (below) comes to us from Shore where he was Director of Co-Curricular and taught music. He is an exceptional educator, and has consistently achieved outstanding results: one of his boys recently achieved a first in the state in Music. Mr Quinane welcomes the opportunity to meet with you should there be a need. His PA Veronique Lorquet can be contacted on 9568 9564 or vlorquet@newington.nsw.edu.au.
It is great having the boys back on campus. Our ANZAC Parade on Tuesday morning was exceptional, the best I have witnessed in my time here. I want to thank the boys and staff from all areas of the college who work together so we may honour those who have gone before.
STEM Festival 2018 kicked off on Wednesday and will continue until tomorrow. The festival showcases everything Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It is a wonderful opportunity for our boys to experience STEM subjects outside the day-to-day curriculum and to learn about STEM Careers. Mr Jack Cullen, a young, ambitious aeronautical engineer, was guest speaker at the STEM Festival Assembly and shared his experience. He is founder and Chief Executive of JAR Aerospace, which specialises in building drones. Jack is just one of a myriad of guest presenters who have been working with our boys during the Festival, tailoring their sessions to the needs of each year group. My thanks to all the staff involved in the Festival and especially the Newington College Parents and Friends Association. Without their support these events would not take place.
Enjoy your weekend.
