Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week we named our Winter Sport and Debating Captains. They are:
- Australian Rules Football – Max Hochuli (12/JN)
- Cross Country – Archie Cuttance (12/FL)
- Fencing – Leon Qian (12/MA)
- Football – Tom Sutton (12/MA)
- Debating – Isaac Carriline C (12/MO); Bradley Parker VC (12/JN)
- Rifle Shooting – Nicholas Malakonakis (12/ME)
- Rugby – Jacob Ratcliff (12/ME)
- Volleyball – Kevin Tran (12/PR)
We also named the 13th and 14th members of the 1st XVI, Theodore Katsieris (12/MO) and Jordan Stojcevski. Congratulations, boys. Your contributions to sport, debating and school spirit are an example for everyone.
This Sunday, more than 300 boys from Years 10, 11 and 12 have volunteered to participate in this year’s Red Shield Appeal. It’s a magnificent response, and the boys now need your help. They need 42 more volunteer drivers to transport them and their friends on the day. What better way to spend time with your son and get to know his friends! Parents of Year 10, 11 and 12 boys, please volunteer now by emailing our Head of Service Learning Mr Madden at mmadden@newington.nsw.edu.au. Thank you in advance for giving your time.
Finally, a housekeeping note. Unfortunately, we have recently received complaints from our neighbours about the behaviour of drivers around the Stanmore campus. Please consider our neighbours, members of the Newington community and the safety of our boys when driving in or around the school grounds by observing speed limits and direction arrows, keeping driveways clear and refraining from double parking or parking in areas designated ‘no parking’ in both the surrounding streets and on campus. Thank you for your co-operation.
Enjoy your weekend.
