Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Monday night, our Intermediate Theatresports team (Charlie Papps 9/MA, Zach Zoud 9/ME, Sam Reucassel 9/ME, Luke Mesterovic 10/MA and Hugh Finlayson 9/JN) won their semi-final. They will join our Senior team (Finn Hoegh-Guldberg 11/MO, Nick Fitzsimmons 12/FL, Simon James 12/PR and Lachlan McIntyre 12/JN) at the Grand Final of the Impro Australia School’s Challenge at Enmore Theatre on Sunday, 17 June. This is a huge achievement for our boys and marks the fifth year in a row that we have had teams competing in both divisions of the Grand Final.
On Tuesday evening we held our Careers Expo. I would like to thank members of the ONU, parents and guardians who volunteered to speak to our boys about their chosen career path. On a very wet night it was pleasing to welcome over 500 students, parents and guests and 48 exhibitors, including universities, the Australian Defence Force, NSW Police and TAFE to the College.
Newington’s annual House Singing Competition is being held this afternoon. Our eight houses have been hard at work finessing their performances, and we’re excited to see the outcome – and who takes the top spot. With strict rules around song selection and the number of rehearsals, and a limit on how many musical instruments can accompany the boys, it should be a great competition. Remember to ask your son how his house performed.
Finally, a reminder that tomorrow is a student free day. Our teaching staff will attend a day of Professional Development. There is no school sport this weekend and Monday is a public holiday allowing your family to enjoy a relaxing long weekend.
