Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Saturday we competed in the 124th AAGPS Athletics Carnival at SOPAC. For only the fourth time since 1892, Newington have won the Senior Division, narrowly defeating Kings School by nine points! We also celebrated some records, with Tolu Koula (11/FL) breaking the AAGPS Open Championship 100m record in a time of 10.58s. Tolu then flew to Queensland on Sunday to trial for the Australian U18 Rugby team, was selected, and is currently touring in New Zealand. Our Junior 4 x 400m relay team, consisting of Stanley Martin (8/KL), Angus Moses (9/MA), James Blakeman (8/KL) and Lucas Head (9/FL) also broke the Newington record with a time of 3.50.89.
Our boys return from camps today and will return to school tomorrow for the last day of term and Valedictory Day celebrations.
The following are some housekeeping points for end of term:
- The school cafeteria will be closed on Friday
- Boys in Years 7–11 are to attend Period 1 as normal
- Boys in Year 12 are required at the College by 9.00am

- Boys are to make their own way home, however, if you wish for your son to catch his normal bus, he is welcome to stay on campus, with limited supervision until the end of the school day.
I look forward to seeing our Year 12 parents tomorrow as we join to farewell Year 12, 2019.
I wish all our Newington families a safe and happy holiday. I will see all the boys back on campus on Monday 14 October. Please remember, Year 11 (Year 12, 2020) start classes on Tuesday 15 October.
