Dear Parents and Guardians,
Each year, House Colour Honours are awarded to the boys who have shown the highest level of commitment to the College and service to others during their time at Newington. It is always wonderful to recognise these boys. This year, House Honour Colours were awarded to 22 boys in Year 12 2020. Well done, boys – the example you set to the rest of the school is inspiring.
Our Head of Service Learning Mr Mick Madden does an outstanding job and has been so successful in getting our boys to serve their community that there are now simply too many of them to cross the stage at assembly. I would like to acknowledge the 200-plus senior and junior boys who will receive their Service Learning Awards this week and next. Many of them are doing remarkable things and I am convinced the benefits will continue well beyond the College gates.
Last week I asked the Newington community to support the Exodus Christmas Appeal. Your generosity has been inspiring; please click here for a before and after photo. There is still a lot more room in reception, so please keep the gifts coming.
Our Junior Production, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) opens tonight. To the boys in Years 7 and 8 who are both on stage and behind the scenes – ‘break a leg’.
Exams are now complete and next week is the last full week of Term 4 2019. Please remind your boys that now is not the time for a radical haircut, to grow a beard or moustache, to slacken off on general grooming or make alterations to the College uniform.
The last week of term starts with our 2019 Annual Prize Giving on Monday 2 December at 10.00am at Sydney Town Hall. The boys finish classes for 2019 on Wednesday 4 December at 1.00pm.
Enjoy the last weeks of term.
