Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday we held our campus tours and were once again overwhelmed by the number of families showing interest in a Newington education for their sons. My thanks to the 35 Year 10 and 11 boys who volunteered to join these tours. They were outstanding in their representation of the College.
This week we renewed our focus on sustainability. Our Senior Prefect Woojin Lee and Ethan Haffenden addressed the assembly about the ‘Step up to clean up’ campaign for Clean Up Australia Day. This year the event is on Sunday 1 March and will be limited to 50 boys. Boys must register on Spaces before Thursday 27 February to secure their service-learning hours. Woojin and Ethan also discussed plans for ‘Waste-free Wednesday’. Please ask your boys to share what they learnt and to explain what ‘Waste-free Wednesday’ is all about.
I would also like to congratulate our 2020 Chess Captain Liam Giang and Vice-Captain Joshua Cosgrove who were presented with their badges at assembly.
Urinetown – the Musical opens next Thursday 27 February. The boys involved have been putting in a lot of extra hours to perfect their performances. Please join me at a performance to support these boys. Tickets are available by clicking here.
A reminder about dropping off and picking up boys in Newington Road in particular. Parents and guardians have been observed double parking, blocking our neighbours’ driveways and not demonstrating safe driving practices. The Inner West Council will be making routine visits to investigate this in the coming days/weeks. Please do the right thing – it is the safety of every member of the community that is paramount.
Enjoy your weekend.
