Dear parents and guardians,
Just one day to go …
Our Winter Sport assembly was held on Wednesday and ONU Character and Service Awards were presented to Rex Quail (12/PR) for Australian Rules Football, Dhruv Kumar (12/JN) for Cross Country, James Lucas (11/MO) for Fencing, Nicholas Clarke (12/MA) for Football, Samuel Gresham (12/MA) for Rifle Shooting, Zach McGeechan (12/PR) for Rugby and Jack Reid (12/FL) for Volleyball. A further 67 boys crossed the stage to accept their Colours.
Today was our second House Festival Day for 2020 – congratulations to Le Couteur House – the winners. Year 12 enjoyed that traditional dress up photo on the Johnson Bank; it will be among the shots made available to Year 12 families next week. Old Boys Tim Rosenstrauss (ON 2012) and Dylan Duong (ON 2010) donated lunch to Year 12 boys. Tim’s company Burger Head supplied classic cheeseburgers and Dylan’s company DuoDuo Fried Ice-cream supplied – you guessed it – fried ice-cream. The boys loved it!
We could not hold our annual Design and Technology Showcase this year, so our Year 12 boys have filmed the thought processes behind their excellent major works, explaining the design and manufacturing steps that culminated in their finished products. They are indeed very talented craftsmen. You can see a highlights video here with the full video available on Spaces or here.
Tomorrow is Valedictory Day. ‘Valedictory’ means ‘a biding, a goodbye, a farewell’. We will live stream the assembly and chapel service to all Year 12 parents; if you can’t see it live, it will still be available via the link already supplied. Next week we will make Valedictory Day photographs of Year 12 available to their families. We wish the parents and guardians who are leaving us this year the very best as you get your boys through their examinations and everything that lies beyond.
Have a relaxing holiday break. Travel safely if you are getting away on holiday and stay COVID safe. Term 4 commences on Monday 12 October.
