Dear parents and guardians,
I hope you have been able to enjoy the break in routine over the past two weeks and are looking forward to the long weekend.
Term 4 starts on Tuesday 5 October, which is Week 11A. The plan for the start of term has been developed following feedback from staff, students, and you, the parents. The start of term seems relatively clear but as we receive greater clarity from the government on the staggered return to campus, we will keep you informed.
Years 7-10:
- Week 11A, 12B and 13A will run as normal Zoom classes with Tuesday and Thursday afternoons screen-free.
- Friday 22 October will be a revision day.
- Week 14B – starting Monday 25 October: Year 9 Examination Week*
- Year 7 and 8 major Term 4 assessments will run during their classes in weeks 14B and 15A.
- Year 7 and 8 students will be required to attend Zoom lessons with time allocated for preparation or study in the periods before these assessments.
- Year 10 examination week* – given the NSW Government change to the return to school dates, we are preparing another plan that will see Year 10 return to school with the rest of the year groups on Monday 1 November. Year 10 exams will occur onsite in the week commencing Monday 8 November.
- NSW Government has indicated that Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 are due to return to campus on Monday 1 November. We will advise if this date changes.
*As is the case in a typical examination period, Year 9 and 10s will not be required to attend lessons during their examination week.
Year 11
- Year 11 students are due to return to face-to-face learning on campus on Monday 25 October. We will advise if this date changes.
- Week 11A, 12B and 13A will run as normal Zoom classes with Tuesday and Thursday afternoons screen-free but with offline tasks set to complete.
- Reports will be available online to parents from Monday 25 October.
- Parent/teacher night is currently scheduled for Wednesday 27 October.
Year 12
Classes – Term 4
Boys are at a stage where they need to have a high degree of autonomy over their program of revision and they have asked for just that. We will balance this autonomy with the provision of revision programs that we know are effective. Boys will not be required in every class but instead have been asked to take careful note of the instructions from their teachers about when they will be required. Some of their lectures may be after 3.30pm, but teachers will provide additional flexibility for them during the school day in lieu of this. Details of the revision program for each of their subjects is on their individual subject Canvas pages.
We hope and expect to have Year 12 boys on campus during the week starting Monday 18 October.
The final day of programmed revision workshops for IB students will be Friday 15 October. Study leave is from Saturday 16 October until the start of the exams on Tuesday 26 October. For HSC students, the revision program will run across the first four weeks of Term 4 concluding on Friday 29 October.
I hope the above information provides you with some clarity around the Term 4 return to study.
