Chinese Characters

The Chinese characters have originated from pictures, peoples’ depiction of things. They have gone through thousands of years of evolution developing into the Chinese characters existing today. For example, the character “月” (moon) is shaped like a crescent moon. The character “山” (mountain) looks like rolling peaks.

The boys have looked at the evolution of some of the Chinese characters of  the words that they were learning. The App “Fun with Chinese Characters” also introduces a range of Chinese characters and their evolution in a fun and interactive way. The boys also have fun in creating their own characters by creating an outline drawing of an object and simplifying the object in three to four steps.
