Kindergarten has enjoyed inquiring into their unit about personal journeys and change. They have enjoyed thinking about how they have changed over time, both physically and as learners. In this unit students explored the concepts of change, perspective and reflection. They investigated important events that have led to change; personal changes over the year and discussed how change can lead to new opportunities. A range of picture books were used to explore the concept of change. The students looked at how they have changed over time by examining personal photographs and recording their observations. Connections were made between personal changes and their learning journey, by comparing and contrasting work samples from the beginning of Kindergarten to the present time. The students also discussed how the skills that they had acquired since starting school could help them in the future. As part of this unit the boys had a “When I Grow Up” theme day and came dressed in the occupation they would like to have when they leave school.
