Our Current Units of Inquiry

Welcome back to Term 3 everyone. The boys have made a great start back in the classrooms and have begun their new units of inquiry with an enthusiastic attitude and curiosity. The units that are starting at the start of Term 3 will all go from weeks 1 -6. Below is an outline of what each stage is inquiring into and through currently over the next 6 weeks.

1 Where we are in place and time Local places can have geographical, historical and cultural significance to the people of the community.
  • Places of significance in the local area (reflection)
  • Reasons for the significance of places (causation)
  • The value of places to community (connection)

 

2 How the world works Human survival is connected to understanding the continual changing nature of the Earth.
  • How the Earth sustains life (Causation)
  • The possibility of life on our planets in our solar system (Change)
  • Changes to the Earth and the impact on the way we live (Connection)
3 Where we are in place and time Exploration leads to discovery and develops new understandings.
  • Reasons for exploration (historical and personal)
  • Feelings and attitudes associated with exploration
  • Learning through exploration of Earth and Space
