Year 2 Sleepover
Over the past month, during our final unit of inquiry on the theme “How we organise ourselves” Year 2 has been learning about workplaces. As part of this unit, year 2 transformed ourselves into our own workplace to collaborate on the organisation of the Year 2 sleepover. We had different committees in charge of food, games, a talent quest and night time entertainment.
On Friday the 21st of November, the big day finally arrived. Year 2 could barely contain their excitement as they came to school in casual clothes, hardly able to wait for the fun to begin at 3pm.
First, the outdoor games committee led some action packed rounds of capture the flag and bull rush. Next came a scavenger hunt around the whole school!
The indoor games committee were next to take over. Inside the lookout we played the chocolate game and pin the moustache on Miss Rusten. Next, the food committee helped out while the boys made their own pizzas. They were delicious!
After everyone was fed and tired from running around outside, it was the movie committee’s time to shine. They marked the lookout into designated seats and issued tickets at the door before screening ‘Despicable Me 2.’
I wish I could say this story ended with a restful night’s sleep, but we’ll skip that part and fast forward to the fun the boys had going down into the bush for the first time. Their imaginations ran wild in the bush and when their parents came to pick them up at 9am they didn’t want to leave.
All in all, the Year 2 sleep over was great fun but would not have been possible without the assistance of Mr Watson, Mr C, Mr Morphew, Mrs Russell and Mr Wyatt.
Thank you teachers!
