On Monday 23^rd October, Year 1 went to the Sydney Observatory to support their Science and Geography Unit ‘Natural and Built Environments’. They discovered how to read the weather in hands-on experiment-based workshops. They used qualitative techniques to explore temperature, cloud cover, wind speed and direction. This was possible with the help of devices such as thermometers, which they used to take quantitative measurements. They also observed vegetation and wildlife to determine changes in seasons and compared weather patterns in Sydney to other locations. Once they mastered the art of weather reading they launched a water rocket into the sky.
