George Mardini KV
George experimented with the use of line. Not only was he able to draw his face with pencil and crayon he also cleverly used wool and even clay to make the features of his face.

Year 5 have been studying ‘Sydney Sun’ by John Olson. Students completed a visible thinking routine, in which they were asked to ‘step inside’ and imagine what the painting might feel like to them. Some students responded with words like ‘violent, hot, happy, powerful and confusing’.
After using more BLP noticing ‘muscles’ the boys began to realise that John Olson was also using lines and shapes within the sun to take the viewer on a visual journey around the city of Sydney.
Students were inspired by this painting and created their own using layers of texture. These textures included paper doilies, crushed up chalk pastels, poster paint, and ink washes. Students also created their ‘journey’ lines by making soft and strong lines with oil pastel.
These are all beautiful artworks and I am proud of Year 5 and all their hard work. Well Done!
