Musical Notes

Huge congratulations to all of our boys on the fine job they did in the annual Music showcase. It was a very entertaining night with excellent performances from all of our ensembles beginning with the explosive, fanfare-like ‘Life on Mars’ and closing with a very memorable rendition of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’. I would like to pay tribute to the music staff who worked tirelessly with the boys to produce this fine musical event including Mr Trevor Mee, Mr Josh Mann, Mr James Loughnan and Ms Alex Dalman. Thank you also to Mr Ben Collinge and Mr Ciaran Frame for their detailed technical support and stage management. We are also grateful to the Wyvern  staff who assisted with supervision both during the day, after school and at the concert. Congratulations Wyvern on a wonderful team event!

Well done to the following boys who performed in the lunchtime concert last week: Blake Dickson, Thomas Spencer, Aiden Lucas, Hugh Harvey, Ishaan Patkar, Roman Lewis and Darwyn Scott. Lunchtime concerts are held on Thursdays and commence at 1.20pm in the Wyvern Hall. All parents are welcome to attend and you will be notified by email if your son has been selected by his instrumental teacher to perform.

Auditions For A New Wyvern Ensemble

On Monday 20th June we will be holding auditions for a new vocal ensemble for Term 3. Called the Wyvern Chorale, this ensemble is open to boys from Stage 3 who are already members of the Wyvern Choir. We are looking for approximately 16 boys who are passionate about singing and can demonstrate strong skill levels, both in intonation and part work, to perform more complex choral repertoire. Rehearsals will be every Monday morning from 7.30am – 8.15am. If your son would like to audition then he needs to meet Mrs Tall and Mrs Dalman outside the Music office on Monday morning. Results will be announced by the end of this term. Please note this ensemble is just for Term 3 at this stage.

Finally, a reminder that there are no rehearsals for Concert Band, Wyvern Winds, Dragonetti or Wyvern Strings next week. String Factory, Wyvern Jazz, Training Band, Wyvern Choir and Wyvern Percussion will still be on.
